FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TORONTO – On Saturday, Clare Hacksel was officially nominated as the NDP candidate for Toronto-Danforth. Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh attended the nomination meeting to show support for Hacksel as a strong voice for the people in Toronto who are trying to cope with the cost-of-living crisis.

“We’re extremely proud to have Clare join the NDP team as the candidate for Toronto-Danforth. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in fighting for people, their health and wellbeing,” said Singh. “More than ever, people in Toronto need someone who won’t just say nice things- but will put in the work, and really make a difference. Someone who understands what families are going through.
Justin Trudeau acts like everything is fine because for his ultra-rich, well-connected friends—things are going great! And Pierre Poilievre is going to cut and gut pensions, and services people rely on, because that’s always the Conservative way. Clare and every single New Democrat that gets elected will fight for solutions that make life better for you and your family—not for the CEOs on Bay Street.”
Clare was born and raised in Toronto, and still lives there today with her family. She’s a passionate volunteer, she’s spent her career in health care and is an active advocate for filling the gaps in Canada’s health system. Clare believes in putting people first and building a society that empowers those people to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.
“I’m tired of watching while people in our community do everything right, but just fall further behind – all while the Liberals and Conservatives stand by letting the ultra-wealthy make things worse.
I understand what people are going through right now, and as a proud New Democrat I will fight to make life better for people. We’re going to work to get more help with the high cost of living, deliver more truly affordable housing and defend access to the health care services people depend on.”
