The riding of Toronto–Danforth is a culturally and economically vibrant community. Its neighbourhoods include Greektown, East York, Leslieville, Little India, Chinatown East, Port Lands, Riverdale and more.
Toronto-Danforth has been represented federally in the House of Commons since 1979 (initially as the old Broadview-Grenwood riding until 2000). Notably, it was the riding former NDP and opposition leader Jack Layton represented from 2004 until his tragic death in 2011.
Provincially, Toronto-Danforth has been represented at Queen's Park since 1999, when it was created from the old Riverdale, York East and Beaches-Woodbine ridings to reflect federal boundaries.
Today, the riding is represented provincially by MPP Peter Tabuns.
Municipally, Toronto-Danforth is served by Ward 14 City Councillor Paula Fletcher. Sara Ehrhardt is the TDSB School Trustee for Ward 15 Toronto-Danforth. She was elected after Jennifer Story, who after eight years of dedication and success as our public school trustee, decided not to run for re-election in the 2022 municipal election.
