Federal nomination meeting - Thursday, May 30, 2019

NDP members in Toronto-Danforth will meet on May 30, 2019 to nominate our candidate for the upcoming federal election. 

TORONTO-DANFORTH - Toronto-Danforth NDP members will meet on May 30, 2019 to select our candidate in the upcoming federal election. 

The approved nomination candidates are Brian Thomas Dias and Min Sook Lee.

Meeting details

  • Meeting Date: Thursday, May 30, 2019
  • Location: Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto - 115 Simpson Ave
  • Meeting Start Time: 7:00 p.m. 
  • Registration: Open from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. 
  • Voting: Starts at approximately 7:45 p.m.

This is the only voting location and there are no advance polls. The venue is accessible and we'll be providing a light snack as some will be opening their fast at sunset

  • Olivia Chow  - Former NDP MP, Toronto City Councillor and 2014 mayoral candidate
  • Peter Tabuns - MPP for Toronto–Danforth
  • Craig Scott - Former NDP MP for Toronto-Danforth
  • Jennifer Story - TDSB Trustee for Toronto-Danforth

Each nomination candidate will also make a final speech to members and attendees.

Eligibility and ID requirements

All are welcome to attend the meeting, but only members in good standing as of April 30, 2019  living in the Toronto–Danforth riding can vote.

Eligibility

Members in good standing who maintain their membership in a riding other than the riding in which they live are eligible to vote only in the riding in which they live. It will be necessary for such individuals to provide evidence of their membership. Members in good standing that move into a riding within the 30-day period prior to a nomination meeting are eligible to vote at the meeting provided they can provide confirmation of their ordinary residence.

ID Requirments

Government-issued documents like an Ontario driver’s licence, passport, Ontario photo card, Ontario health card, Ontario motor vehicle permit, statement of government benefits (child tax benefit, old age security, etc), Any document issued by the Government of Canada, Ontario or a municipality in Ontario or from an agency of such a government, Any document issued by a band council in Ontario. Other acceptable documents that include your name: utility bill (gas, hydro, etc.), cell phone bills, bank/credit card statement, school admissions letter, school transcript/report card, school tuition/fees statement, cancelled personalized cheque, cheque stub, T4 tax slip or pay receipt issued by an employer, CNIB identity card, hospital record/document, insurance policy/statement, loan/agreement with a financial institution, or residential lease, rental or mortgage agreement/statement.
