JACK
LAYTON
 |
Through
two decades of public service, and as Leader of Canada's NDP
since 2003, Jack Layton is delivering the kinds of results
that strengthen people and communities.
Jack Layton's
leadership has more than doubled the Party's support through
three successive elections.
|
After the
2004 federal election, Jack made history by rewriting the Liberal
budget - canceling corporate tax cuts and instead, investing that
money into ordinary Canadians' priorities.
In the 2006
election, Jack's leadership drew an additional half-million voters
to the NDP. The Party elected 29 members of Parliament, and was
the only party to re-elect every incumbent.
In 2008, Jack
led the Party to achieve its second best election results ever.
Canadians elected 37 New Democrats to Parliament.
Jack has also
written two books:
- Homelessness:
The Making and Unmaking of a Crisis
- Speaking
Out Louder: Ideas That Work For Canadians
